Advanced Cardiovasculer Life Support is an advanced, instructor-led 2 day classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. 

At Covenant Healthcare Simulation Center, we utilize our mid and high-fidelity patient simulators to enhance learning through improved realism.  Our experienced faculty include practicing physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and paramedics.

Advanced Cardiovasculer Life Support (ACLS) Recertification is a 1 day classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. You must provide your current VALID (non-expired) ACLS Provider Certification at course registration.

SYNAPSE is pleased to offer the Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) Provider Course at CMU College of Medicine. The goal of this course is to prepare the non-intensivist for the first 24 hours of management of the critically ill patient until transfer or appropriate critical care consultation can be arranged; to assist the non-intensivist in dealing with sudden deterioration of the critically ill patient; to prepare house staff for ICU coverage; and to prepare nurses and other critical care practitioners to deal with acute deterioration in the critically ill patient.

Course objectives are to:

  1. Prioritize assessment needs for critically ill and injured patients
  2. Select appropriate diagnostic tests and identify and respond to significant changes in unstable patients
  3. Recognize and initiate management of acute life threatening conditions
  4. Determine the need for expert consultation and/or patient transfer

This classroom, video-based, Instructor-led 2 day course uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.

At Covenant Healthcare Simulation Center, we utilize our mid and high-fidelity pediatric patient simulators to enhance learning through improved realism.  Our experienced faculty include practicing pediatricians, pediatric intensivists, ED physicians, PICU nurses, respiratory therapists and paramedics.

Food will be provided in the atrium from 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm.   

Workshop will start at 6:30pm and end at 8:30pm

This workshop will provide 2 hours of hands-on scanning in a casual, small group format in the CMU College of Medicine/Covenant Healthcare Simulation Center. We will set up a series of stations including: E-FAST, placement of an ultrasound guided IV, foreign body removal, MSK ultrasound, and more! Dr. Mead and your SIG leaders look forward to helping you hone your skills (all levels of experience welcome).
